We have been having a fun but jam packed summer this year. It’s been a scorching hot so plenty of pool time and icies have been a must. We are getting ready for our annual beach vacation in a couple of weeks, and the anticipation is as fun as the vacation (well not really, that may be an exaggeration). I know I really need a vacation this year! In getting ready for your summer vacation please take a look at our adorable swim and summer wear. We have a couple of adorable beach bags (that I’ve gotten lots of compliments on and holds tons). We also have light weight gingham wear for the little guys in your life or sweet swimwear for the little ladies. I love tutus (if I ever had a little girl she would walk around in tutus permanently I’m convinced) and we have the cutest ones from Mud Pie.
Be sure to stay cool and enjoy your remaining summer vacation.

Prepare yourselves… heavy topic today. I think that being a kid is tough, it’s made even tougher when you are facing adversity. A few years ago my husband was diagnosed with heart failure brought on by a virus. It’s been a tough three years with a lot of ups and downs. I worry the toll that it has taken on our eight year old. It has been a rough few months for us including a couple weeks of him in the hospital, being flown to Texas for two surgeries, and then several trips to the ER. As a mother I just want to protect our two boys from all that’s happening with their dad.
We have had many blessings, but it does not change the fact that this situation frankly sucks for all of us. It’s hard for an eight and three year old to process that their dad has to be in the hospital. They immediately become fearful (and so do I).
My biggest tip for dealing with adversity and kids is keeping the line of communication open. There are days when my oldest son wants to talk about it, and there are days when we just need to run around and be normal. He needs assurance that things will work out, and that’s what I can provide. My children are growing up knowing that life is precious and everyday should count.

Life is truly what you make of it. My sister sent me this you tube video this morning, and I was so touched. We should all have this kind of attitude full of gratitude!!

I am a sucker for Organic products, food, clothing, etc. I just love knowing that what I’m giving my kids (now I won’t profess to being a saint, and yes there are pop tarts in my pantry!) I especially love organic baby products. When they are so small their skin is easily irritated, and there is nothing better for their skin than organic fabric. We just received the best new shipment of onesies 3-6, 6-12 and 12-18 months. I also LOVE the fact that they are handmade by a creative mom just like us. I hope you enjoy and would love to hear your feedback!

My little guys are officially growing up. Over our vacation we finally got our little one potty trained, it’s so hard to believe. I’m just amazed at how fast he is growing up. Our oldest started second grade and officially has his first crush. He’s my little charmer and I’m sure this is his first of many more crushes to come. I’m starting to feel a little old! Their birthdays are in two weeks (one day apart…I know we couldn’t have planned it better). We have decided to combine their parties into one, I wonder how long I will be able to get away with the dual birthday party? We always have such a fun time with the birthday parties it normally includes large amounts of children running around screaming, hopped up on sugar, you’ll find something burning on the grill, and a homemade cake that is supposed to resemble something like an action hero but normally turns out slightly unrecognizable (stick a couple of action figures on top and wallah…action figure cake). Besides, I think it’s fun to play “guess what the cake really is” at parties, it provides one more form of entertainment for the kiddos.
I hope that you are enjoying the late summer as the kids head back to school.

I am a self admitted reality TV junkie. One of my favorite reality ladies (actually my number one favorite to be exact) is the fabulous Tori Spelling. She is a super stylish mom who is very relateable in a “I’m a movie star, size zero, and the daughter of a billionaire” kind of way. She wins my title for mommy with the mostest in the style arena, so when I saw that she had been featured recently with one of my new favorite products, I was giddy. We are now carrying some of the cutest baby slings on the market by Ajobebe. You seriously wouldn’t believe how cute these are until you have them in front of you. We are also carrying their wipe covers because who has to carry a plain jane white wipe holder…um not me! Check these out and let me know what you think, because if Tori likes them then you know their cute.

Can you believe that it’s already time for the kids to head off back to school? I always get a little sad. I literally cried everyday for a week when my son started kindergarten. At our house, we have a very hard time preparing for Back to School because we enjoy our summers so much. I’m not sure anyone in our house looks forward to it, especially when we could be at the pool, hanging out with our friends, or having a big barbeque (which we frequently do). So to get my son excited about going back to school, I always make a big deal about the school supplies. He gets to help pick out his new things and the most important part is always the backpack. I can appreciate how important a cute backpack is since I am a handbag addict. Therefore, when picking out the backpacks for vintagevirgo, I was sure to keep in mind just how important the backpack is to both parent and child (parents for the functionality, child for the “cool” factor). We have really cute backpacks that are both functional, but really cute at the same time. The Beatrix Backpacks are made from recycled water bottles, yes- you heard me right…water bottles! We also offer adorable bags from Dabbawalla. Let us know your thoughts, and best of luck getting your little ones ready for the new school year!

We just got these adorable handmade monster tees in. This is Mr. Cole (the one and only) putting on his best model smile. (Isn’t he adorable?) Of course I think so, this is my youngest. He’s a two year old that thinks he is in his early teens and can smile like that on command. Anytime he thinks he’s in trouble, he cracks this precious little smile and you can imagine how hard any type of discipline becomes. I mean how hard is it to stay mad when you look like that? He is a mess. He loves pretending he’s the bad guy vs. the good guy. My oldest aspires to be Superman, while Cole would prefer to be Lex Luther…
We bought the sample of this shirt a couple of months ago, and everywhere we go we get lots of great comments when he wears this. Again, this is one of those items that is made by a mom just like us. They are very unique, completely trendy, and great quality. Find it at www.vintagevirgo.com

So my two year old son continually gets bit at his preschool by the same little boy. He will come home with a bite mark on his hand, elbow, arm, etc and say that this little boy was bad because he bites. When I was ordering new kids tees and came across this one, I immediately ordered these specifically for this tee. I am sending our little guy to school tomorrow in this shirt, and maybe it will help…
